What began in 1945 as a small apple stand founded by Gaspare Maiorana has grown, through the dedication of three generations, into Joe's Produce Gourmet Market. 

In 1967, his son, Joe Maiorana Sr., expanded the apple stand into a full-service produce market built on quality and trust.  Later, Joe Maiorana Jr. carried the vision forward, adding Joe's Meat & Seafood, Art of Bread, gourmet prepared foods, and full-service catering. 

80 years later, That small apple stand has grown into what is now one of the most recognized and respected names in the Detroit area for the freshest and finest produce, meats & seafood, artisan breads, prepared foods & gourmet catering.

Over the years, we grew! We staff a full kitchen where we craft chef-prepared hot foods… everything from Baja fish tacos to stone fire pizza, cedar plank salmon, fresh lasagna—even hand-rolled ahi tuna sushi. It’s all made with the same premium ingredients we stock in-store, because we wouldn’t serve anything less.

Our butcher shop, Joe’s Meat & Seafood, is known all over Metro Detroit for ultra high-quality meats and our legendary fresh salmon... cut daily by a team that knows their craft.

And that’s before you even get to The Art of Bread, where fresh sourdoughs, crusty loaves, and house-made pastries come out of the oven every morning.

A lot of people ask why it’s still three separate spots instead of one big superstore— or why we haven’t opened more locations. The truth? We like it this way. When something works, you don’t mess with it. We’re not chasing expansion. We’re chasing excellence. We want to keep it personal. Keep it local.
